Camden's Back surgery.

So our little Camden had a vepter rod placed for his scoliosis on Sept. 18th. This was his X-Ray in one of his pre-op visits. The angle of his scoliosis changed which made the surgery necessary. One of the main concerns with severe scoliosis is impaired lung function. Luckily his lungs haven't been harmed yet. He did great through the surgery. The next pictures are ones they took in the surgery. The first one is after they placed the parts hold to his ribs and vertebrae. The the second is after they put the whole rod together. There is still a slight curve, but not what it was.

So one of Camden's favorite things about the hospital was riding the in red wheelchair. We only did it once for a few minutes, but it took him awhile to want to get out of it once we got back to the room. The hardest part of recovery for him was walking. We bibbed him with toys to encourage him to walk at first. He earned some new star was "boys." He slept this his "boys" and his cars that he got while he was in the hospital. They were his comfort toys.

So we came home the Sunday after his surgery and he has been doing good ever since. He definately likes being home, even though we had to convince him that we had to leave. He didn't want to get out of the Jammies and wanted to keep sleeping in their bed. We had to trick him out of the Jammies and told him that we were taking his "boys" home and he could come home with them or stay at the hospital. He chose to come home.

Our new dryscape

So one of our little projects for our house this year was to redo the front parkway. It was completely filled with white rocks, which irritated me. So we dug out all the rocks, which took forver and put in this rock and bark design. In the next few weeks we are expanding the design into the rest of the flower patch area in the front.

Lagoon Here We Come!!

Our vacation at home.... Lagoon. So this year we were pressed for time so we went on a mini vacation at home to Lagoon. It was Camden's first time to Lagoon. He was really funny. He would want to go on a ride and then change his mind when we got closer to the front of the line. Finally, we just convinced him and put him on the boat ride. He liked it. The only other rides we got him on was the train ride, Ferris Wheel, Puff and the Merri-GO-Round. Taegen had lots of fun and went on lots of rides.

Davis County Fair Time

Every year we go to the Davis County Fair. We have a lot of fun and it's free (except for parking). We go to the petting zoo the the kids fun zone. Then we usually have a little treat and watch some of the entertainment. It's a great way to spend the evening.

The new addition!

So my brother Ray and his wife Laura had their third child. His name is Kevin Lucus. He was born July 14th. So They have three kids now, Brayden almost 9, Anna 2 and now Kevin. Add that to my two and there are five grandkids in my family.

First Grade here she comes!!

Taegen's First day of School. This year Taegens starts first grade. She was a little nervous about going all day long, but she is surviving. She also isn't excited about their school lunches. So everyday she has a ham and turkey sandwich with mayo with and assortment of treats. I would think that having the same lunch everyday would get boring, but not boring enough to eat school lunch. Her teacher is Miss Nielsen who is a strong advocate for reading. Taegen is following that lead and already learning to read quite a few little stories. She is going to be a star reader and read a ton just like her mom!

Taegen Turns Six

Scooby-Doo Where are You? So Taegen had her Scooby-Doo Birthday. She and the other kids had a lot of fun. The first thing the kids did was decorate a picture frame. While they were doing this the Birthday Phantom stole her presents. To get her presents back we had to follow the clues and go room to room and complete tasks to move on to the next clue. First they encountered the mummies in Taegen's room. They had to wrap themselves up like mummies to scare the other mummies away. Then they ran downstairs to freeze dance the those ghosts away. Next they went outside for the pinata. Up in Camden's room they stomped out the ghosts. Down to the front room to refill scooby in a snack toss. Then on to musical chairs. Finally up to wash their hands for the cake and they found the gifts in the bathtub.

Soccer baby

This summer we enrolled Taegen in a short soccer program through the city. It taught the basics rules about soccer. It also helped them work on a few skills to better their game. Soccer wasn't Taegen's only game she was improving. A few days she would warm up with the two teenage guys that helped to teach the program. Overall she really enjoyed her soccer time.

Guitar Hero's

The kids are never left out in our quest to be the best guitar heros there ever was. Needless to say we are a long way off from our goal, but we keep trying. Maybe one day we will be worthy of the title "Guitar Hero"
