Camden's Back surgery.

So our little Camden had a vepter rod placed for his scoliosis on Sept. 18th. This was his X-Ray in one of his pre-op visits. The angle of his scoliosis changed which made the surgery necessary. One of the main concerns with severe scoliosis is impaired lung function. Luckily his lungs haven't been harmed yet. He did great through the surgery. The next pictures are ones they took in the surgery. The first one is after they placed the parts hold to his ribs and vertebrae. The the second is after they put the whole rod together. There is still a slight curve, but not what it was.

So one of Camden's favorite things about the hospital was riding the in red wheelchair. We only did it once for a few minutes, but it took him awhile to want to get out of it once we got back to the room. The hardest part of recovery for him was walking. We bibbed him with toys to encourage him to walk at first. He earned some new star was "boys." He slept this his "boys" and his cars that he got while he was in the hospital. They were his comfort toys.

So we came home the Sunday after his surgery and he has been doing good ever since. He definately likes being home, even though we had to convince him that we had to leave. He didn't want to get out of the Jammies and wanted to keep sleeping in their bed. We had to trick him out of the Jammies and told him that we were taking his "boys" home and he could come home with them or stay at the hospital. He chose to come home.
